A neighbor nominated Karen Kendrick for Utah Mother of the Year. This is what she wrote in her nomination:
Karen Kendrick is my next door neighbor and I would like to nominate her as the Weber County Mother of the Year for 2014. Karen is the mother of three children, 2 sons and 1 daughter. I know her oldest son because he still lives at home with her. He is 50 years old and has a disability which causes him to function at about the level of a 6-year-old. However, because of Karen’s mothering he is continuing to reach his individual potential. I have met her two other children who each have families of their own and are active citizens in their communities.
Karen is an involved grandmother for each of her grandchildren. Karen is loving, generous and kind to her family and everyone in our community. Her example strengthens me as I watch how she interacts with and treats others. She has developed a personal relationship with each of my own five young children. She talks to them by name and knows what is going on in their lives. She truly exemplifies love for children and for everyone.
