Susan DeYoung was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High School and received degrees from Weber State and Brigham Young Universities. She taught 6th and 3rd grade children in Shelley, Idaho and North Ogden. She married Michael DeYoung in 1988. Susan left the classroom after her first daughter was born and was home as two more sons joined the family. She was involved as a volunteer at her children’s schools. She has worked as a tutor and permanent and long-term substitute. She served on PTA boards at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, and also on the Ogden Council PTA. Susan served for 10 years on the steering committee for the Weber State University Storytelling Festival. Currently, she volunteers at the Ogden Utah temple. Michael and Susan are the parents of three children and have 4 granddaughters.
